Episode 612 - Research to Save the Honeybee addthis
Research to Save the Honeybee
Scientists will tell you that honeybees are under attack these days. Predators like the Verroa mite and Colony Collapse Disorder are taking a toll on tens of thousands of bee hives across the United States. Why is that important? Because, honeybees pollinate around 30% of the crops we enjoy every day.

Now, researchers at a U.S. Department of Agriculture research facility in Louisiana have come up with some of the solutions needed to help save honeybee colonies. Using genetic research and cross-breeding techniques, researchers are seeing results in their fight to insure this important link in our food chain.
