With close to 107,000 farms, Missouri ranks second in the nation for number of farms, and accounts for five percent of the Country’s farms. Like many other states that have a successful agriculture industry, Missouri is fortunate to have a diverse climate. Missouri is a leading state in the raising of dairy cows and beef cattle. Seven percent of U.S. cattle operations are in Missouri. The state ranks third in equine production. It was in St. Louis where early immigrants Adolphus Busch and Eberhard Anheuser, helped make brewing a national industry.
