Despite being one of the most urbanized states in the country, New Jersey ranks high in the production of almost all garden vegetables. The chief crops are greenhouse and nursery products (especially commercial flowers), soybeans, hay, tomatoes, peaches, blueberries, and corn. New Jersey is usually among the top 20 states in the production of tomatoes and other vegetables. The state produces 38 million pounds of blueberries a year, ranking second in the nation. New Jersey also ranks third in the nation for cranberry production. Poultry and dairy farming are the primary livestock commodities.
