Oklahoma has over 44 million acres of land with 70,000 farms and an average of 405 acres per farm. Farming accounts for nearly 4% of the annual gross state product in Oklahoma. Livestock and livestock products make up about two-thirds of Oklahoma’s yearly farm income, while crops account for the remaining one-third of the annual agricultural income. The leading crops are wheat, hay, cotton, peanuts, sorghum, and soybeans. Oklahoma ranks second in the nation in the production of winter wheat and first in the production of rye.
